100 years from the roaring 20s, we are re-entering a new era of the 20s! We affirm: We are here because our ancestors were here!

Enter “Black Blues Culture”, an experiential live performance project honoring the legacies of Queer and Gender-Variant blues icon-ancestors Gladys Bentley, and Bessie Smith. Blending historical richness with contemporary artistic expressions, Philly-based artists A’Jon and Ivy Sole will present intimate sets accompanied by Sweet Corey-Bey.

Artists will also share their authenticity and inspiration participate in a moderated talkback session.

Audiences become active participant in this world through their witness. Come ready to receive and be yourself! There will be an on site Photo Booth to create a living archive to remember by.

Doors are promptly at 6pm. The show begins at 7pm doors close for the night at 8pm to preserve the energetic ecosystem we will lend ourselves to.

Light refreshments will be served!

This event has been actualized with support from Pink Noize Projects, the Leeway Foundation Window of Opportunity, and Black Music City by Rec Philly, WRTI, & WXPN
